Renjo La Pass Trek: 15 Days

Are you seeking a unique adventure in the Everest region? Embark on our thrilling Renjo La pass trek, a journey that traverses a high mountain pass and leads you to the breathtaking Gokyo Lakes.

The Renjo La Pass trek is one of the most underrated trekking packages in the Everest region. It offers no crowds, incredible mountain landscapes, and beautiful layovers.

The Renjo La pass trail crosses the high mountain pass called Renjo La, as the package's name suggests. It is a remote trek in the Everest region that explores beautiful mountain villages, lush alpine forests, valleys, streams, lakes, and glaciers. Apart from the pass, the Renjo La Pass trek has another major highlight, the Gokyo Lakes (4,700–5,000 m).

The fascinating Sherpa culture and heart-warming Himalayan landscapes come complimentary on this trek. Please note that you'll have the opportunity to interact with the Sherpa community, learn about their traditions, and visit ancient monasteries.

The less crowded trail via villages like Dole (4,200 m) and Machhermo (4,470 m) makes the Renjo La Pass trek one of the best Everest trek packages. You will not be following the famous Everest trail visited by thousands of trekkers.

This trek does not take you to EBC; it lets you explore the largest glacier in Nepal, Ngozumpa Glacier, and the famous viewpoint, Gokyo Ri (5,357 m).

The Renjo La Pass trekking has balanced adventurous and spiritual elements. When the thrilling landing at Lukla airport and the giant mountains overwhelm you, the friendly locals and their rich cultural heritage will calm you down.

The delicate chirping of the birds, the freshness of the mountains, and the soothing aroma of forests will help you unwind & relax your heart. The simple yet meaningful interactions with locals, their stories, and their lifestyle make the journey more enjoyable.

And how can we forget the majestic mountains and peaks that become constant companions of travelers in the Everest region? You'll witness the grandeur of Mt. Everest (8,849 m), Mt. Makalu (8,463 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8,188 m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6,812 m), Mt. Thamserku (6,608 m), Mt. Pumori (7,161 m), Mt. Kangtega (6,782 m), and more.

The wilderness of the Sagarmatha National Park

This trek explores the Sagarmatha National Park, a vast protected area of international interest. Please note that we are committed to preserving the park's biodiversity and minimizing environmental impact.

The park begins from Monjo village onwards, and we must register the national park permit at the police check post outside Monjo village. The Sagarmatha National Park has numerous flora and fauna, including exotic species like Himalayan tahr, snow leopard, red panda, and blue sheep. Likewise, the trail comprises a range of forests, pastures, terraces, rivers, streams, waterfalls, moraines, glaciers, etc.

Trek through beautiful mountain villages

Some major villages on this trek are Namche Bazaar, Dole, Machhermo, Gokyo Village, and Thame. You'll also pass many other small villages with fantastic views.

Trekking through these villages will give you a chance to peek into the lifestyle and culture of the locals. You'll learn a lot about Sherpas, especially when you visit ancient monasteries on the way.

A less crowded, adventurous trail

Few people do the Renjo la Pass trek because of the strenuous trail and fewer facilities. Therefore, the trail is open even during peak trekking season.

You can enjoy the tranquility of the Everest region at its best and take your time admiring the views without being disturbed.

Amazing hikes during the acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and Gokyo village

Our itinerary includes two acclimatization days: one in Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) and another in Gokyo village (4,750 m). In Namche Bazaar, you'll hike to the Hotel Everest View (3,962 m), a luxury accommodation provider known for the Mt. Everest view from all its windows.

Likewise, during the rest day in Gokyo village, we have a side excursion to Gokyo Ri (5,357 m), a vantage point. From this point of view, the mountain view is extraordinary.

Gokyo Lakes & Renjo La pass

Gokyo Lake is the world's highest lake system, comprising six lakes ranging from 4,700 to 5,000 m (15,400 to 16,400 ft) above sea level. Also designated as a Ramsar site, Gokyo Lakes has religious values and is considered holy by the locals.

The Thonak Lake is the largest of all the Gokyo Lakes, and the Dudh Pokhari Lake is the most significant. The Gokyo village is on the eastern shore of the Dudh Pokhari.

The Everest region has three main high passes, the Renjo La pass being the most approachable. Its elevation is also the lowest among all three passes, at 17,560 ft/5,360 m.

The Renjo La Pass connects the Gokyo Valley to Thamethe, the least visited part of the Everest region.
