Dhampus Sarangkot trekking offers panoramic views of Annapurna I (8,091 m), Annapurna South (7,219 m), Annapurna II (7,937 m), Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Lamjung Himal (6,983 m), Manaslu (8,163 m), Hiunchuli (6,441 m), etc.

Dhampus (1,650 m) and Sarangkot (1,600 m) are different places. Dhampus is a beautiful Gurung village, and Sarangkot is one of the best places in Nepal to witness a gorgeous sunrise.

Dhampus village

Dhampus is located north of Pokhara and offers a quick, serene gateway in the Annapurna Conservation Area. The lovely rice terraces, lush hills, and spectacular mountain views make the hike to Dhampus quite amusing. The trail is rich in vegetation and birds.

Inhabited mainly by Gurungs, Dhampus village is known for its old-style mud and brick houses, paved courtyards, Buddhist monasteries, and fine streets covered with rhododendron flowers. Sarangkot View Voint

Sarangkot is at 1,600 meters on the western side of Pokhara. It is famous for paragliding and zip lining. Also known as a viewpoint, it offers stunning sunrises and views of western Himalayan mountains like Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Lamjung Himal.

Sarangkot is the second major highlight of the Dhampus Sarangkot trek. The stretching Himalayan range views and the aerial view of Pokhara from here are phenomenal.

Early in the morning, we leave Pokhara and drive to Phedi in a private vehicle. The drive will be a few hours long and pass farming fields and the Seti River. From Phedi, we begin trekking through a forest. The first half-hour's walk follows a straight uphill route.

We reach a ridge from where the view of the river valley is mind-blowing. Further, we keep trekking through terraced and small villages to beautiful Dhampus village. The view of the Annapurna range and Machhapuchhre is mesmerizing from this place.

Today, we will catch a gorgeous sunrise from Dhampus. After breakfast, we walk back on the same trail we used to trek up here. We trek for 10 minutes and then switch to the trail leading to Sarangkot. The trail descends to Ghatte Khola and crosses a suspension bridge.

From here, we ascend to Naudanda and continue walking toward Sarangkot. We will reach Sarangkot just in Time to catch the sunset and beautiful views of mountains like Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri.

Before we leave Sarangkot, we walk some 50 meters to a view tower early in the morning to witness the breathtaking Himalayan panorama. You will see mountains like Manaslu, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre here. Later, we have breakfast and walk down to Pokhara, where the trek is end.

We suggest you to hire a porter to carry your bag pack while on trek, trekking with a light day pack is much easier and you enjoy your trekking holidays to the fullest. A trekking porter carries about 20-22 Kg (about 10-11 Kg from each of you), and we suggest to hire a porter in between of two trekkers.
