Dhampus Sarangkot Trek
The Dhampus Sarangkot trek is a short 8 days trekking program in the lower Annapurna region. It is an easy trek and perfect for beginners. People of all ages, including seniors can do the Dhampus Sarangkot trekking without any issue. The Dhampus Sarangkot Trek offers panoramic views of Annapurna I (8,091 m), Annapurna South (7,219 m), Annapurna II (7,937 m), Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Lamjung Himal (6,983 m), Manaslu (8,163 m), Hiunchuli (6,441 m), etc.
Dhampus (1,650 m) and Sarangkot (1,600 m) are two different places. Dhampus is a beautiful Gurung village, and Sarangkot is one of the best places in Nepal to witness a gorgeous sunrise. As you will be exploring the lower part of the Annapurna region during the Dhampus Sarangkot trek, the trail will not be difficult. You will be walking through forests, terraces, and rural settlements. You will come across people from different ethnicities apart from Gurungs.
As you walk up, mesmerizing landscapes will bless your eyes and soothe your soul. The hues of the verdant forests, the fresh air, and the fact that you are in the Himalayas make the walk wonderful. You can also do Dhampus Hiking and Sarangkot Hiking separately with us if you do not have enough time to follow this 8 days program. We also customize the Dhampus Sarangkot Trek Itinerary for travelers who wish to extend the trek to other beautiful villages.
Another great part about the Dhampus Sarangkot trek is you get to explore Kathmandu and Pokhara, two famous tourist cities in Nepal. In Kathmandu, you will go on a guided sightseeing tour of many historical sites that lets you have the first glimpse of Nepali culture, tradition, art, and architecture. Then you drive to the city of Lakes, Pokhara, from where a short drive will take you to the starting point of the Dhampus Sarangkot Trekking route.
Pokhara is a lovely city with many lakes, ponds, and caves around it. Locals and travelers both love this city as you get to be very close to nature while enjoying city life. Here, you will visit tourist sites and spend quality time at Phewa Lake, relishing gorgeous sunsets. The Lakeside Market is like a mini Thamel in Pokhara. The Dhampus Sarangkot Trek is an incredible short venture in Nepal that offers an adventurous and immersive experience.
Kathmandu
Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal. You land here and spend a good number of days in this city. There is a lot to explore and visit in Kathmandu. We have separated one full day to visit some of the tourist sites around the city and show you Nepali history, art, architecture, and culture. You will go on a guided tour with an English-speaking guide (or with someone who can communicate with you).
The tour begins with a visit to the famous Monkey temple (Swayambhunath) and proceeds to Pashupatinath temple. Pashupatinath temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known as one of the Dhams. Then the tour heads to the Boudhnath Stupa, situated at an old trade route. Here, you will visit monasteries and do kora around the stupa. The tour then goes to Kathmandu Durbar Square.
We will end the tour by exploring palaces, courtyards, and museums. Learn about Nepal's history and see how kings & queens used to live.
Pokhara
The difference between Pokhara and Kathmandu is huge. Both being the two biggest metropolitan cities in Nepal, Pokhara has more natural elements. You go for a sightseeing tour to waterfalls, caves, lakes, and hills instead of historical monuments. Maybe that is why Pokhara has a special place in the hearts of the travelers who visit here. Pokhara is the gateway to the trekking routes in the Annapurna region.
You will get ample time to enjoy the serenity of Phewa Lake, gorgeous sunsets, and explore Lakeside Market. Like Thamel, there are many pubs, clubs, cafes, restaurants, and shops in Lakeside where you can enjoy your time. Boating on Phewa Lake is quite famous too.
Dhampus village
Dhampus is a picturesque village that falls on the way of the Nepal Family trek route. Located north of Pokhara, Dhampus offers a quick serene gateway in the Annapurna Conservation Area. The lovely rice terraces, lush hills, and spectacular mountain views on the way make the hike to Dhampus quite amusing. The trail is rich in vegetation and birds.
Mostly inhabited by Gurungs, Dhampus village is known for its old-style mud and brick houses, paved courtyards, Buddhist monasteries, fine streets covered with rhododendron flowers, and humble locals. The hospitality of the locals is heartwarming. Your short time here will let you unwind and enjoy peace.
Sarangkot
Sarangkot is located western side of Pokhara at 1,600 meters. This place is famous for paragliding and ziplining. Also known as a viewpoint, you get to see stunning sunrises with views of western Himalayan mountains like Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung Himal, etc. Sarangkot is the second major highlight of the Dhampus Sarangkot trek. The stretching Himalayan range views, along with the aerial view of Pokhara from here are phenomenal.
