The domestic flights to Lukla and Lukla to Kathmandu are included in the itinerary and price of the Everest Trekking Packages. We book these domestic flights once you book the trekking in Everest region.
The Flights from Kathmandu-Lukla, Lukla-Kathmandu commonly may get delayed for a few hours and even one or more days, usually due to unfavorable weather conditions. Delays at this high elevation airport might happen even in the best of seasons. In such cases of delay, which can happen both at the start or end of the journey (or both!) you will have to be prepared for long waits at the airports in Kathmandu or Lukla. Of course, we will do our best within the circumstances to avoid problems, and arrange for the earliest flights. However, we must inform you of the possibility of delays and even cancellations. We have scheduled extra time for contingencies and ask that you also include extra days (1-2 days) at the end of your journey to avoid conflicts with your scheduled departure from Nepal.
We can also arrange helicopter service as necessary and upon your request. The helicopter costs are around USD 500-1000 per person, depending on demand and capacity.
The luggage for a domestic flight to Lukla is limited to 15 kg including your hand luggage when you fly to Lukla for the Everest Trek. However, you can take some more if you wish, and the excess luggage costs US $2-3 per Kg.
