Bhutan

Bhutan is a small and beautiful country in the world and boasts an incredible range of landscapes, from towering mountain peaks in the north to lush subtropical forests in the south. Bhutan has a rich history of Vajrayana Buddhism dating back to the 8th century. Buddhism has deeply influenced the Bhutanese way of life by emphasizing compassion, tolerance, and moderation. Despite being well-insulated and protected, Bhutan has become a popular travel destination.

Bhutan has a unique approach to development. In the 1980s, the Fourth King of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuk, introduced the concept of Gross National Happiness (GNH) as the country's official development philosophy. GNH emphasizes the balance between material and spiritual development, with equal importance given to four pillars: economic growth, good governance, environmental conservation, and the preservation and promotion of culture.
