Kathmandu: The Capital of Nepal
We will explore many old historical sites in Kathmandu. You will visit palaces, courtyards, museums, art galleries, temples, monasteries, and sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square. The Durbar Square was the royal residence of the late kings of Nepal. It is now an open museum.
Likewise, the tour also takes you to the biggest stupa in Nepal, Boudhanath, one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in the country. How can we forget the very famous Monkey Temple, aka Swayambhunath Stupa. Located on a hilltop, you must climb numerous staircases to reach the top.
Local markets, the bustling streets of Thamel, Garden of Dreams, and Ason Bazaar are other highlights of Kathmandu. We highly recommend tasting Nepali delicacies whenever you get a chance.
Pokhara: The Tourism Hub of Nepal
Pokhara is the second biggest city in Nepal. This place is known as the city of lakes. You stay around Phewa Lake, a gorgeous lake with views of Mt. Fishtail (6,993 m) and Dhaulagiri (8,167 m). Pokhara is famous for its tranquillity and gateway to the Annapurna region.
Here, you can go boating on Phewa Lake, catch gorgeous sunsets, explore the Lakeside Market, if time allows, visit tourist sites like Davis Falls, Peace Pagoda, Gupteshwor Cave, Mahendra Cave, and Begnas Lake.
Ghandruk Trekking
Ghandruk trekking lasts four days. On the fourth day, you'll drive back to Pokhara. Dhampus and Ghandruk are beautiful villages known for their kind locals and breathtaking mountain views. Walking route is easy, so you can do this trek with your family. The trail ascends and descends through lush rhododendron forests.
Ghandruk hiking, spanning four days, offers a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. As you traverse lush rhododendron forests, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, Fishtail, Lamjung Himal, Dhaulagiri, and Nilgiri. The walking is designed to be enjoyable, with the bonus of interacting with the warm and friendly locals.
Chitwan National Park
Chitwan is the final travel destination of the 12-day Nepal Family Adventure. Visit Chitwan National Park means participating in wild activities. You will do a jeep safari and a deep jungle walk. Then, there are activities like canoeing, bird watching, bathing with elephants, and visiting their breeding centers. You can see wildlife such as one-horn rhinos, elephants, deer, the royal Bengal tiger, boars, peacocks, and many different birds.
If you can identify plants, Chitwan National Park is a paradise. The park houses hundreds of species of plants. In Chitwan, we'll also visit an indigenous village of the Tharu community. You will see their stick dance in traditional clothes.

Nepal family adventure begins with your arrival in Kathmandu. You will spend one full day visiting different monuments before driving to Pokhara. The drive between Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, and Kathmandu will be comfortable and scenic.
Rest assured, your comfort and safety are our top priorities. We will provide a private car/van/bus for a comfortable journey depending on the group size. An experienced guide will accompany you throughout the adventure, ensuring a smooth and secure experience.
The team of Outfitter Himalaya will pick you up from the Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival day. You can find them with your name card around the terminal gate. They will drop you off at the Hotel and help you check in. We have already booked the Hotel, so it'll be ready to welcome you.
We begin the day leisurely, and after breakfast, we prepare for a sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. An experienced English-speaking tour guide will accompany you during the tour.
The sightseeing tour takes you to historical sites like Boudhnath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Swayambhunath. These are centuries-old temples, monasteries, and palaces. You will learn about Nepali culture, art, architecture, and history during the tour. Later in the afternoon, we will meet in our office to discuss our entire tour of Nepal. We end the day exploring the bustling streets of Thamel.
Note: you can do the Everest mountain flight tour in the morning before the tour starts, which is about an hour of scenic flight around the Himalayas.
After breakfast, we begin driving to Pokhara, the city of lakes. The Kathmandu Pokhara drive is fantastic and comfortable. We use a nice standard tourist bus for the commute. On the way, you can see beautiful landscapes and mountain views. Upon reaching Pokhara, the team will drop you off at the Hotel. Rest and unpack. Spend the evening exploring the Lakeside market and enjoying the stunning sunset of Phewa Lake.
You have options to upgrade your transport to a 35-minute flight to Pokhara.
Today, after breakfast at the Hotel, we head to our next destination. We will drive to Kimche through Nayapul and Birethati. After a short Trek, we will reach Ghandruk Village.
We descend to Modi Khola and climb up to Landruk village, a big village inhabited by a mixed community of Gurung, Magar, and Brahmins. Now, the trail gently ascends to Tolka (1,700m.).
We will trek from Tolka to Dhampus. The trail gently descends up to Deurali, a village mainly inhabited by Gurung. We journey through flat land for some distance and steeply descend to Dhampus.
This morning, we will have a great sunrise view. From Dhampus, we take a short trek to Phedi, about two hours of walking through a pristine environment. As we reach Phedi, we will drive to Pokhara.
Now, it is time for actual jungle activities in Chitwan National Park. We drive from Pokhara to Chitwan in a tourist vehicle. The drive will be comfortable and scenic. The drive is relaxing, with rolling green hills, rivers, and occasional waterfalls. Upon reaching Chitwan, it will be late afternoon. We spend an hour or two unpacking and relaxing.
Later in the evening, the guide will lead you to a Tharu village. Tharu are an indigenous group of Nepal. You can see their traditional stick dance in vibrant cultural clothes and taste some of their assortments. The day ends with a big dinner.
We wake up early and prepare for a day of wild activities in Chitwan National Park. We'll go on jeep safaris, canoeing, jungle walks, and visits to the elephant breeding center. We'll see many exotic animals and birds, including elephants, wild boars, royal Bengal tigers, one-horn rhinos, peacocks, and deer.
It is time to drive back to Kathmandu. We leave Chitwan early in the morning and enjoy a beautiful drive to Kathmandu. The guide will drop you off at the Hotel. The remaining day is free. Today is a great time to window shop in Thamel. You can visit the Garden of Dreams at the entrance of Thamel and walk straight to Durbarmarg.
Note: You can take a 25-minute flight from Chitwan to Kathmandu at an additional cost.
We have one day in Kathmandu. You can spend the entire day with yourself as you wish. Or, we can arrange a guided sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur and Patan Durbar Square.
These are must-visit places to learn more about Nepali art, architecture, and culture. We will meet in a designated restaurant for a farewell dinner in the late evening.
The Nepal Family Adventure trip comes to an end. You fly back to your home today. Our team members will help you with the luggage and drop you off at the International Airport.

Nepal Family Adventure Difficulty and Altitude Sickness
Ghandruk Trek is easygoing. The route mostly passes through rhododendrons, pine, oak, and fir forests. You will walk past small villages and cross a few suspension bridges. The terrain is mountainous, so you can expect constant ascends and descends, but there will be no steep sections. Any fit individual can do this trek without any worry.
Permits required for Family Adventure Nepal
You will need permits, especially for the trekking part and Chitwan National Park. To visit Chitwan National Park, you need an Annapurna conservation entry permit, a TIMS permit, and a national park entry permit. We apply and get all these permits for you once you book a family tour in Nepal.
Best Time for Nepal Family Adventure Holidays
The family tour in Nepal is available and doable throughout the year. However, the autumn season (from mid-September till mid-December) and spring (from the beginning of March to the end of May) are the best time for Nepal family adventures regarding weather and temperature.

Meals and Drinks on Nepal Family Adventure
On the Nepal family adventure, we provide 23 meals (11 breakfasts, six lunches, and six dinners). You have a wide variety of Nepali and Western meals on this tour and drinks such as coffee, tea, milk, soft drinks, and beer) as well.
However, these drinks do not include the trip cost. You can buy them yourself at the lodge or guest house. We advise you to bring water purification pills or medicine while coming for the tour since you will have regular water for free. You can also use the medicine and drink or buy bottled or boiled water to drink.
