Langtang trek from Pokhara in summer/monsoon (June, July, August)

In summer/monsoon time, Langtang trek is most challenging because of the hot and humid climate and slippery trails. Only trekkers with strong fitness and a love for nature, mudd, and biodiversity can pull off Langtang trekking between June to August.

The mountain views can be obstructed because of cloud sky and poor visibility. However, you will get to enjoy the best rainy scenery and soothing scent of the Earth. The trail is almost empty in these months because of unfavorable weather conditions.

Langtang trek from Pokhara in winter (December, January, February)

Winter trekking is not that famous among foreigners in Nepal. However, the Langtang trek is one of the treks that can be thoroughly enjoyed in the winter season. The challenges will be definitely high because of snowfall and the extremely cold climate, but you can complete the trek successfully.

Services like charging, hot showers, and WiFi are pretty much available in all villages and cost extra money, so pack a solar charger and wet wipes and buy a tourist sim. The network is not reliable in the Langtang area, and once you enter the inner valleys, you will go off the grid for a few days.

Bring the documents with you and give them to us. In case any emergency occurs that requires you to travel back to Kathmandu immediately, we will use the insurance to provide you with helicopter evacuation.

Langtang trek difficulty

Langtang trek difficulty is moderate level and it is not as challenging as the Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp trek.

However, at least 5 to 6 hours of walking is given each day. So, even though the trekkers are not experienced, decent fitness is a must.

The Langtang trekking route ascends and descends through forested hills and uneven cliffsides. The terrain is rugged and rocky in most sections. Likewise, walking at high altitudes is also challenging. You can complete the trek if you maintain your pace and take frequent short breaks.

Altitude sickness and tips to avoid it

Altitude sickness is common while traveling above 2,500 meters. It happens because you are not used to the elevation. Usually, the symptoms of altitude sickness include nausea, vomiting, headache, difficulty breathing, dizziness, and insomnia.

If you experience any of these discomforts, consider them early signs of altitude sickness. If you experience any of these, let your guide know and get first aid from him. The most effective ways to avoid altitude sickness are ascending slowly, acclimatizing, and drinking at least 3 liters of water.

You have to follow all these rules. Likewise, make sure not to exhaust yourself, have ample food, and get enough rest. You have to be in optimal condition to walk 5 to 6 hours a day, every day.

We have an acclimatization day in Kyanjin Gompa. Likewise, after this point, you will ascend high and sleep low frequently, which will help you acclimate as well.

How is the network on the Langtang Valley trek route?

The network in the Langtang Valley is not that good because of its location and high altitude. WiFi is available in villages like Syabrubesi and Lama Hotel. However, you have to pay a few extra bucks for it.

Mobile networks are also limited and only work in some places. While walking through forested areas, you will not get a network at all. Likewise, there is very little chance of a network above Langtang village.
