The real adventure begins here! After breakfast, we follow the trail with a guide. We walk through beautiful rhododendron woodlands, which are especially pretty during the flowering season.

The trail slopes gently down to Bamboo, which reveals beautiful meadows full of grazing yaks and mules. All along the route, the grand Langtang range offers breathtaking views throughout the day.

We will cross two suspension bridges over the Langtang River, a fun way to break up the hike. The day ends at Lama Hotel, a cozy village known for its friendly locals and warm atmosphere, perfect after your first trek day!

We leave Lama Hotel and take the Langtang Khola through the lush forest. The track gradually ascends, leading to Chhunama, a serene stopover. We cross a suspension bridge and move toward Ghodatabela, where nature and mountain views impress us. The track now opens us up to the spectacular LangtangLirung, Naya Kanga, and Scout Peak.

We will also pass the old Langtang Gompa before reaching Langtang village. The 2015 earthquake severely affected Langtang village, but it has reinstated itself beautifully and now welcomes trekkers with warm hospitality.

Max Altitude: 3,430m / 11,253 ftMeals: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Guest houseDuration: 6-7 hoursDistance: 14km / 8 milesTravel Mode: Walking

From Langtang village, we follow a mani stone wall and walk past open meadows and hillside stupas on the way to Mundu. After crossing a bridge, a gradual uphill trail brings us to KyanjinGompa, a peaceful village with a sacred monastery.

Since the short walk, we have enough time to rest and gaze around. The view of the snow-capped peaks is stunning, and the cheese factory in the village is a must-visit! And something local? We can visit the cheese factory in the town for some yak cheese. It is creamy and delicious and is an interesting souvenir!

We will spend another day in the lovely village of KyanjinGompa to allow time for acclimatization to the increasing altitude. In the early morning, we will set out for KyanjinRi or TserkoRi. The trail to TserkoRi is more challenging, but the mountain views are spectacular. You will spot peaks like Langtang II, Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma, and more lining the horizon.

After our scenic adventure, we will return to Kyanjin for a relaxing afternoon, which includes wandering around the village, visiting the cheese factory (again, if you are interested), and meeting locals. With your guide's help, you will learn their traditions and stories. It is a day to balance adventure with connection.

Max Altitude: 3,830m / 12,565 ftMeals: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Guest houseDuration: 3-4 hoursDistance: 4km / 2 milesTravel Mode: Walking

Today, we begin our long descent from KyanjinGompa to Lama Hotel. The trail gently rolls past mani walls, prayer flags, and open meadows before dropping into lush hillsides.

We will cross a suspension bridge over the Langtang Khola and descend steadily from Ghodatabela. This stretch is quite steep and demands a bit of focus. After one more bridge, the forest thickens, and Lama Hotel appears, ready to welcome us with warmth and well-earned rest.

Max Altitude: 2,400m / 7,874 ftMeals: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Guest houseDuration: 7-8 hoursDistance: 21km / 13 milesTravel Mode: Walking

Today is our last trekking day, and the route is as peaceful as ever. We trek downhill from Lama Hotel to Bamboo, crossing a swaying suspension bridge one last time. From Bamboo, the trail leads us through serene rhododendrons and pine forests, the trees whispering goodbye with every breeze.

As we return to Syabrubesi, nature is leading us home. After a last stroll through the serene forest, we complete our unforgettable short Langtang Trek.

We will start the day with a scenic ride from Syabrubesi back to Kathmandu. It is a long drive, but the views are delightful, with winding roads, rivers, forested hills, and charming roadside villages.

After arriving in Kathmandu, we will drop you off at your hotel, where you can rest and freshen up. The afternoon is yours to take it easy, unwind, or explore Thamel leisurely. Must-Know
Essential Information

Short Langtang Trek Difficulty

The short 8-day Langtang Trek is designed to be beginner-friendly and not too challenging. Yes, you will walk for hours daily on uneven trails, but your pace will be very manageable, and the scenery will outweigh any discomfort. You will pass through scenic woodlands and areas of open grassland, and whilst there will be a few rocky areas, this adds a little spice to the trek.

We acclimatize, and the increase in altitude every day is very gradual, so altitude sickness is not an issue. A rest day is also part of the adventure, so your legs and lungs will get a break. And the best part? You won't be doing it alone. Our experienced guides are with you, ensuring you are safe, supported, and smiling.

Altitude sickness on Short Langtang Trek

When you ascend to a higher altitude on the short Langtang journey, your body requires time to adapt. If you ascend too quickly or don't take care of yourself, you may suffer from altitude sickness, especially if you get above 3,000 meters. Symptoms of altitude sickness can include headaches, nausea, and trouble sleeping.

But don't worry, these are easy to avoid! Just drink water, eat, don't drink alcohol, avoid smoking, and rest well. If you do start to feel unwell, tell your guide immediately! They will help with first aid and ensure you are safe and comfortable.

Short Langtang Trek Preparation

A little preparation can make your short trekking in Langtang much more enjoyable! Start walking or hiking a few weeks in advance to build stamina. Add some fun cardio- cycling, swimming, or jogging are all great options. If you hit the gym, strengthen your legs and core. Mindfulness or meditation can also be surprisingly helpful, especially in the calm of the mountains.

We suggest that you wear your hiking shoes earlier to avoid nasty blisters! Remember to book your trek early and pack accordingly. When it comes to trekking gear, you can find everything, from jackets to sleeping bags, on rent or sale in Thamel, Kathmandu.

Travel insurance for short Langtang trek

Before you head to the Langtang region, remember one essential thing: travel insurance. It is required for the Short Langtang Trek and must include emergency airlift and medical costs. While the trail is not highly high-risk, you are still trekking in rugged terrain with limited access to healthcare.

Insurance ensures you receive assistance quickly if anything goes wrong, like altitude sickness or an accident. You must purchase your policy from home prior to your departure for the trek.

Meals on Short Langtang Trek

Trekking and delicious meals go hand in hand, and on the Short Langtang Trek, you will enjoy hearty mountain cuisine that will energize you! During the journey, you will have 23 meals: 7 breakfasts, eight lunches, and eight dinners. Trekkers praise "Dal Bhat," a hearty Nepali dish that boosts your energy!

You will also have many options, like soups, curries, noodles, pasta, and pancakes. All of the tea houses are prepared to accommodate different dietary needs, so if you are vegan, vegetarian, or meat lover, there's always something delicious for you. The food is simple but warm, just what you need after hiking all day.

Transportations on Short Langtang Trekking

Our short Langtang trekking package includes local bus rides to Syabrubesi and back to Kathmandu on a local bus. A good local bus ride is a fun way to experience rural Nepal, and you can chat and mingle with local people- it is part of the experience.

That said, buses can be crowded and bumpy, so we offer an optional upgrade to a private Jeep for an extra fee. If you want more space and a more comfortable ride, just let us know when booking, and we will arrange private transportation. Rest assured that we will get you there safely, and you will enjoy the ride whichever way it goes.
