We welcome you at the airport on your arrival day. After a quick meet & greet, the team will escort you to the hotel. The remaining day is free.

The tour guide will meet you in the hotel lobby. The sightseeing tour is a full-day program. You will explore Kathmandu and visit historical sites such as Boudhnath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Monkey Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

We meet in our office late afternoon and introduce you to your trek guide. After a short briefing about the trek, we proceed with final packing and last-minute shopping.

After breakfast, you will begin a scenic drive in a private tourist bus/van towards Sundarijal. Sundarijal is a vast water project that supplies the maximum amount of drinking water inside Kathmandu Valley.

From Sundarijal, you will begin ascending through dense forests to a dam. Further, you will cross the dam and, leaving the water supply system behind, ascend steeply to a road that leads to the Shivapuri ridge and wildlife reserve.

The trail will take us to Mulkharka village. Further, you will climb through oak and rhododendron forests and Borlang Bhanjyang. You descend and finally reach Chisapani, where you will stop for the night.

Wake up early, have breakfast, and begin trekking along meadows and terraced fields. The views of the Langtang range are excellent on the way.

The trail descends further and reaches Pathi Bhanjyang, a beautiful small village. From here, we trek to Gul Bhanjyang and ascend a hill. The trail descends to Kutumsang.

From Kutumsang, we head north, enjoying superb mountain views. We ascend a steep trail that goes through lush rhododendron and fir forest. The trail continues to Yurin Danda.

Further, we trek and reach Magen Goth past a few lodges. The trail continues to Tharepati, where we'll stop for the night.

The trail today lets you experience the culture and lifestyle of the locals closely. Leaving Tharepati, we head east off the ridgeline and descend to Melamchi village.

We can see many stupas, shrines, and monasteries in Melamchi village. The trail then ascends to Tarke Ghyang, passing by remote Sherpa villages. We can see spectacular mountain views on the way. Tarke Gyang is one of the oldest and biggest monasteries in the Helambu region.

We walk through dense forests, past streams and waterfalls. The trail offers a beautiful landscape. We will reach Parachin village and walk past many small settlement areas before reaching Gangyul.

From here, the route leads to Sermanthang village. We visit a few monasteries in this village.

After breakfast, you will descend to the Melamchi Pul Bazaar. On the way, you will pass several fine meadows, cultivated fields, and picturesque villages.

You will wake up early and have breakfast. After that, drive towards Kathmandu along a bumpy road from Melamchi Pul Bazar to Lamidanda. From Lamidanda, go on the well-made highway to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will head to your hotel and freshen up.

Later, you can stroll on the vibrant street of Thamel and end the day with a delicious farewell dinner.

We suggest you to hire a porter to carry your bag pack while on trek, trekking with a light day pack is much easier and you enjoy your trekking holidays to the fullest. A trekking porter carries about 20-22 Kg (about 10-11 Kg from each of you), and we suggest to hire a porter in between of two trekkers.

Essential Information

Helambu Valley Trek Difficulty

Helambu trekking is perfect for anyone with normal health. You also don't need prior trekking experience to go on this trek. The trail combines gentle hiking and trekking through forested paths. Some sections steeply ascend and descend.

You must walk about 6 to 7 hours daily and be fit enough to walk. Helambu region is not bustling and has yet to develop tourist infrastructure. So, you get a very raw trekking experience and see an authentic mountain lifestyle.

It also means bare minimum facilities, which can make the venture harder than it is for some trekkers. Endurance is crucial to relishing trekking in the Helambu region.

Helambu Trek Preparation

You do not have to do advance training to join the Helambu trek in Nepal. Build walking habits and your core strength. You have to work on your stamina.

Short hiking, cycling, swimming, and running are good workouts to increase stamina. We recommend trekking in old/used boots rather than brand-new ones. You'll be much more comfortable in old trekking boots.

Best Time for the Helambu Trek

The best time for the Helambu Valley Trekking in Nepal is during autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May), when the weather is mild. Clear sky offers excellent views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes.

During these seasons, temperatures are usually moderate and stable, making Trekking and enjoying the region's scenic beauty easier. However, monitoring the weather forecast and preparing for possible weather changes is still advisable.

However, The Helambu Trek is doable throughout the year. It is also possible in the winter and monsoon seasons.
