Trek in Langtang and Shivapuri National Park with a high mountain pass
The Langtang circuit trek encompasses two national parks near Kathmandu: Langtang National Park and Shivapuri National Park. Langtang National Park was established in 1976. It is in the southern mountain chain of the Nepal-Tibet border.
The climate varies from lush temperate river valleys to snow-capped giant mountains. Likewise, the vegetation ranges from the subtropical (2,000 m-2,600 m), temperate zone (2,600 m-3,000 m), subalpine zone (3,000 m-3,600 m), scrubs and juniper (4,000 m) to alpine grassland meadows before ascending to the arctic zone.
Shivapuri National Park is on the northern fringe of Kathmandu Valley. It lies in the transitional zone between subtropical and temperate climates. Forest types include pine, oak, and rhododendron. Likewise, the park is home to 177 species of birds, nine threatened species, 102 species of butterflies, 129 species of mushrooms, and many mammals.
Kyanjin Gompa and Cheese Factory
The Kyanjin Gompa is one of the most significant religious places in the Langtang region. You will know about its history, but locals are trying to collect as much as possible. The Gompa was built 280 to 300 years ago, and the early settlers emigrated from Tibet.
Right next to the Gompa is the famous Kyanjin Yak Cheese Factory. You can visit the cheese factory, taste some yak cheese, and see the cheese-making process. You can also buy cheese to bring back with you.
Meet with people of indigenous communities such as Tamangs and Hyolmos
Trekking in the Langtang region brings you close to Sherpas and Tamangs. The Tamangs are believed to be descendants of the Tibetans. You'll notice many similarities if you know Tibetan culture and traditions.
As you traverse the Helambu region, you'll have the unique opportunity to meet and interact with the locals of the Hyolmo community. This indigenous community has a rich cultural heritage, and their warm hospitality will make you feel right at home.
The Langtang circuit trek route is adorned with Mani walls, stupas, prayer wheels, and chortens, offering a glimpse into their vibrant traditions.
Gosainkunda Lake
Gosaikunda Lake- holy lake related to epic Hindu mythology 4,380 meters; Gosaikunda Lake is a sacred lake in the Langtang National Park. There are 108 lakes around Gosaikunda Lake. According to the locals, this lake is connected to Hindu mythology and directly related to the god of power and destruction, Lord Shiva.
Locals believe Lord Shiva meditated here for a long time and bathed in this lake. Therefore, on Janai Purnima (the full moon day of August), pilgrims visit this lake to purify their souls and get rid of their sins by bathing in the Gosainkunda Lake. There's a story about how Gosaikunda Lake was formed. It says the lake was created when Lord Shiva thrust his Trishul (Trident) into a mountain to extract water to soothe his poisoned throat.
Locals say that people with pure souls can see Shiva's reflection on the lake. The origin of Gosaikunda Lake is also mentioned in the Mahabharata, Ramayana, Vishnu Purana, and Bhagavata Purana at the time of Samudra Manthan, which makes this lake very prominent for Hindus.
You will have Snow-capped mountain views, stunning glaciers, and perfect landscapes
The Langtang Circuit Trail is dominated by the Langtang Himalayas and numerous glaciers. Did you know that the Langtang valley is also called the valley of the glaciers. The mountain panorama throughout the Langtang circuit trek is phenomenal. You get to witness jaw-dropping views of Langtang Lirung (7,234 m), Langtang Ri (7,205 m), Dorje Lhakpa (6,966 m), Mt.
