Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek

Embark on an adventurous trek in the Annapurna region, following a less crowded and gorgeous trail that leads to the base of Mardi Himal. Mardi Himal trek is a pleasant trip in the Himalayas that exhibits marvelous mountain views and pristine nature.

The Mardi Himal Trekking is also known as the Mardi Himal Base camp Trek as it reached the base camp of the Mardi Himal. Mardi Himal Trekking explores the east of the famous Annapurna base camp trail and offers a doable but offbeat trekking experience. Mardi Himal base camp trekking is the perfect package in the Annapurna region to enjoy a tranquil trek with breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountains. This trekking route opened in 2012, so the trail is relatively new and less famous.

Our Mardi Himal base camp trek is 12 days long and also combines your arrival and departure from Kathmandu. The trekking period is only 7 days long. So, if you are looking for a short trek in the Annapurna region, then the Mardi Himal trek is a great alternative. The trail winds through dense forests of rhododendron and bamboo. You walk along steep side valleys and occasional remote settlement areas.

As the Mardi Himal trail passes through lush forests, you may get to see a range of wildlife and birds. Likewise, the trail is extremely enriching in flora and has diverse vegetation. With the increase in altitude, you can notice an abrupt change in vegetation and views. At 3,300 meters, you come out of the forested route and walk on open meadows & rocky terrain further.

Before the Mardi Himal trail got opened for trekking, it was only used by the shepherds. There was no tea house or lodge to accommodate the travelers. And the occasional trekkers have to use tents and prepare the meals by themselves. Now there are tea houses built along the trail, and the number of trekkers has also increased in the last few years, making the Mardi Himal trek quite known among experienced backpackers.

Mountain Views

Mardi Himal trekking route offers some of the best views of western Himalayan mountains like Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Mt. Nilgiri (7,061 m), Mt. Hiunchuli (6,441 m), Mt. Fishtail (6,993 m), Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m), etc. The trail offers breathtaking scenery at every turn. As the trek progresses, the mountains get more prominent, and you'll find yourself super close to the giants.

Locals on Mardi Himal Trail

The locals along the Mardi Himal trail are friendly and welcoming. There is no major settlement area during the ascent to the Mardi Himal base camp. However, while returning, you get to experience the authentic village lifestyle and culture of the natives because the trail descends to Sidding village (1,885 m) and also passes by Lumre. Mardi Himal base camp trek is also a perfect family trip and a great alternative to Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek.

Rich Ecosystem

The Mardi Himal trek route begins following the foothills of the Annapurna region. The trail goes through numerous camps before reaching the Mardi Himal base camp. The trail is abundant in natural wonders like mountains, hills, forests, streams & waterfalls.

Trekking the lush lowland to the alpine mountains in just a few days gives you a distinct experience. Up to Low Camp (3,210 m), you'll be walking by dense, damp forests. From Low Camp to High Camp (3,580 m), the trail is full of short bushes. And beyond it (up to 4,500 m) is barren and rocky cliffs with a strong wind blowing in the afternoon.

Less crowded trail and off-beat trekking experience

One of the things that make Mardi Himal base camp trekking the best trekking package in 2023 & 2024 is the less crowded trail.
